Businessman Thiago Brennand should be extradited from the United Arab Emirates in the coming days

The United Arab Emirates authorized the extradition, in the coming days, of businessman Thiago Brennand, accused of a series of episodes of aggression and violence against women in Brazil. Itamaraty sources confirmed to CNN that the Brazilian government has been notified and is awaiting the formalization of the extradition.

The decision for the United Arab Emirates is interpreted by Brazilian diplomats as a step in relations between the two countries, in which there would be reciprocity from Brazil in similar situations.

Brennand has been imprisoned in Abu Dhabi since October 2022 because his name was put on Interpol’s wanted list. He had traveled to the Middle East.

In Brazil, there are five preventive arrest warrants against the businessman. The charges are of assaulting a model, kidnapping and tattooing a second woman, and raping a young woman and another model.

In addition, he also responds to accusations of assaulting his own son, a 17-year-old teenager.

Brennand denies the accusations, although at least one of the situations was caught on the security cameras of a luxury gym in São Paulo, when he assaulted a model.

A CNN spoke with lawyers for two victims. They said they are following the information with great expectation that Brennand will be extradited this week.

Sought, Brennand’s defense did not respond to the report’s contacts.
