Buying a motherboard for a 12th Gen Intel Core processor (Alder Lake) won’t go broke. The first models lit up in the online store in Australia

Yesterday we wrote that the AMD Radeon RX 6600 graphics card, which has not yet been officially presented, was lit up in Australia’s online stores, and today there are data on the cost of motherboards based on the Intel Z690 chipset for 12th generation Intel Core processors (Alder Lake) – two models produced by Gigabyte also spotted in the Australian online store.

The more expensive option is the Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Master for $ 572, the cheaper option is the Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Elite AX for $ 327. But surely there will be other models on the Z690 – cheaper. So, we can say that the cost of new products is at the level of prices set for similar models for the 11th generation Intel Core processors. All in all, buying an Alder Lake motherboard won’t ruin.

This is how much motherboards on the Intel Z690 chipset cost (prices are in Australian dollars)

But what confuses the description of motherboards is the mention of DDR4 memory and LGA1200 socket. Alder Lake will support both DDR4 and DDR5, but DDR5 is clearly reserved for top models (namely, for them the Z690 chipset comes out). As for the socket, all Alder Lakes are designed to be installed in the LGA1700 socket without any alternative. In general, most likely, errors were made when filling out the catalog of the online store.

Recall, according to the latest data, the official premiere of Intel Alder Lake processors will take place on October 27, and they (and motherboards on the Z690 chipset) will go on sale on November 19.
