At the Technoprom-2022 International Technological Development Forum, which traditionally takes place in Novosibirsk, Nikolai Ryashin, a member of the NTI Aeronext Association, officially told reporters from the RIA Novosti news publication that a special autonomous station for unmanned helicopters – the so-called heliport. Accordingly, there are plans to create a full-fledged platform for air vehicles that deliver various small-sized cargo on an unmanned basis.
“A heliport or autonomous station for unmanned helicopters is a new version of an already existing drone port [аналогичная станция, но для квадрокоптеров грузового типа], which will be adapted to a new type of unmanned vehicle – an electric autonomous helicopter. Now we are in the active phase of designing the station and expect to introduce this new product to the market in the third quarter of 2023,” Nikolai Ryashin told RIA Novosti.
The main feature of this station is the latest robotic system, which will also replace the battery in an unmanned vehicle. This function is necessary in order to extend the flight range of the helicopter – it is much more efficient and faster than waiting for the aircraft to recharge the battery at the charging station. Moreover, the development of the company will be equipped with an automatic system for obtaining permission to fly a drone, which is also quite important – in this case, there is no need to maintain a huge logistics center, plus, probably, the percentage of errors due to the human factor will also decrease.
Ryashin also added that unmanned helicopters will be able to independently control a certain territory, which is quite effective in certain scenarios. For example, the aircraft will be able to monitor the fire situation or extended objects like power lines, roads or oil pipelines. And, what is most interesting, no one plans to stop there.
“The next stage is a universal heliport for large unmanned helicopters used for cargo delivery. So bvs [беспилотным воздушным средствам] we need platforms for unloading, loading cargo and changing fuel cells, ”Nikolai Ryashin told reporters.
