Passenger traffic shows a significant increase (+ 344.2%), while arrivals from abroad record an increase (+ 524.7%) in November 2021 compared to November 2020, according to the statistics of the Policy Service Aviation (CAA).
Also, the total statistics for the 11 months of 2021, from all airports in our country record an increase of + 75.3% compared to the corresponding season last year, while compared to the corresponding 11 months of January / November 2019, where they were not set in force prohibitions and flight restrictions due to the pandemic, the drop reaches -44.8%.
In particular, the statistics of the CAA for the passenger traffic of the airports in the 11 months of January / November 2021 show the following:
The total number of passengers handled reached 34,029,893 million, showing an increase of 75.3% compared to the corresponding period of 2020 where 19,411,876 million passengers were handled. Regarding the number of flights at the country’s airports, we also had a positive sign as they amounted to 361,958 of which 151,762 were domestic and 210,196 were international, showing an increase of 48.8% compared to the corresponding period of 2020 where a total of 243,252 flights were operated.
Comparing the statistics with the 11 months (Jan / November) of 2019 when the flights were 502,646, this year there is a drop -28% in aircraft traffic. In the total passenger traffic that was 61,665,799 in 2019, now for the same examined 11 months there is a decrease of -44.8%.
November 2021 statistics show a large increase in passenger arrivals by 524.7% and in the number of flights with an increase of 110.6%.
According to the CAA, the picture of passenger traffic in November 2021 is positive as the statistics record a large increase. Specifically, in terms of passenger arrivals abroad, 426,284 travelers came in November this year, while in November 2020 74,005 passengers had arrived, an increase of 524.7%. The total number of flights (domestic and international) this year amounted to 22,771, also recording an increase of 110.6% compared to the corresponding month of 2020 when 10,810 flights were operated. The total number of transported passengers (arrivals / departures) in November this year reached 1,972,266, showing an increase of 344.2% compared to passenger traffic in November 2020 which was 444,035.
Comparing the aviation data for November 2021 with the statistics of November 2019, when there was no Covid-19 disease and the restrictions on flights, the arrivals of foreign passengers this year show a decrease of 32.8% (in November 2019 was 687,711 international passengers) and the total passenger traffic at Greek airports decreased by 24% (in November 2019 it was 2,596,285 passengers).
