The second version of the novel “Cabocla” based on the book of the same name by Ribeiro Couto published in 1931, returned to TV Globo’s programming schedule last Monday (26), in the special edition, replacing “Full of Charm” .
In the plot, adapted by Benedito Ruy Barbosa, and originally shown in 2004, the public follows the power struggle between rural politicians, territorial fights and romances between characters from different social classes.
Meet the main characters of “Cabocla” below
Zuca – Vanessa Giacomo
Daughter of Zé da Estação (Otávio Augusto) and Siá Bina (Jussara Freire), Zuca is an innocent country girl, known for her simple ways and lack of education. Throughout the story, she falls in love with Luís Jerônimo (Daniel de Oliveira) and, despite being engaged to Tobias (Malvino Salvador), she breaks off the engagement and decides to face the world for the sake of love.
Louis Jerome – Daniel de Oliveira
Luís is an educated young man, passionate about life. He experiences great passions, even if they are fleeting. Son of Joaquim (Reginaldo Faria), he has no intention of continuing the business run by his father, although he understands that it will be his legacy. When he moves to the countryside, he meets Zuca (Vanessa Giácomo) and his personality changes completely.
Tobias – Malvino Salvador
Tobias is a fearless, brave and troublemaker country boy. An excellent horseman, he works as a farmhand on the farm of Colonel Boanerges (Tony Ramos). Son of Felício (Sebastião Vasconcelos) and Generosa (Vera Holtz), he is the brother of Rosa (Vanessa Gerbelli) and Tina (Maria Flor). In love with Zuca (Vanessa Giácomo), he makes sure everyone knows about his love. Despite suffering from the separation, he decides to forgive her and allows himself to fall in love with Mariquinha (Carolina Kasting).
Joaquim – Reginaldo Faria
Luís Jerônimo’s father, Joaquim, is a widower, a businessman, with a strong character and very well educated. He lives for his work, thinking about his son’s future. He pays extra attention to the young man when he discovers that he is sick. He only understands his heir’s love for Zuca (Vanessa Giácomo) after giving love a chance too.
Mariquinha – Carolina Kasting
Mariquinha is the daughter of Justino (Mauro Mendonça) and sister of Neco (Danton Mello). She studied in Vitória and became a teacher at the local rural school. She is very cheerful and likes the local people, although she thinks she can dispose of them as she pleases. She is in love with Tobias (Malvino Salvador).
Colonel Boanerges – Tony Ramos
A big name in the region, Boanerges is the president of the Chamber and a friend to many. Cousin of Joaquim (Reginaldo Faria) and Luís Jerônimo (Daniel de Oliveira). A fair man who faces opposition from Colonel Justino (Mauro Mendonça). Against violence, he opts for peaceful relations when it comes to mediating local issues. Married to Emerenciana (Patrícia Pilar), he is the father of Belinha (Regiane Alves), who falls in love with Neco (Danton Mello), the son of his main enemy.
Justin – Mauro Mendonca
A widowed colonel, Justino is the father of Neco (Danton Mello) and Mariquinha (Carolina Kasting). With a strong spirit, he is known locally for his arrogance. Not accepting the leadership of Boanerges, his main enemy, he fights – with all his strength – to change the situation, but to no avail.
Belinha – Regiane Alves
Daughter of Colonel Boanerges (Tony Ramos) and Emerenciana (Patrícia Pillar), Belinha graduated as a primary school teacher in Rio de Janeiro and, despite wanting to teach, she does not receive permission from her father, who only wants her to get the diploma. The young woman has a modern view of the world and does not agree with the attitudes of her elder sister. She falls in love with Neco (Danton Mello) without realizing who his son is.
Neco – Danton Melo
Son of Justino (Mauro Mendonça) and brother of Mariquinha (Carolina Kasting), Neco is a law student, but abandons his studies and returns to his hometown as a farmer. There, he meets Belinha (Regiane Alves), with whom he begins a great love affair.
