A 44-year-old man who identified himself as CAC (Collector, Sports Shooter and Hunter) was arrested for shooting a 16-year-old teenager on Wednesday afternoon (18) after a fight between students outside a state school in São Bernardo do Campo, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo.
According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), there was an argument followed by a physical confrontation involving two students at the school. The accused, father of one of the students, arrived at the scene and fired a firearm, hitting the other student’s right shoulder.
The victim was rescued by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) and taken to the hospital. He has already been discharged and will be heard in the next few days.
According to the police report, after firing the shot, the student’s father fled the scene in his vehicle. He then surrendered to the Military Police and was taken to the 3rd Police District of São Bernardo do Campo.
In a statement, the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat said that the accused claimed to be a CAC and presented documents for the weapon used, which was seized. He will undergo a custody hearing.
The case was registered as illegal possession or carrying of a firearm for restricted use, discharge of a firearm, bodily harm, damage, threat, and criminal misdemeanors (de facto).
The São Paulo State Department of Education regretted what happened and repudiated all forms of violence, inside or outside the school environment. The school management also reinforced that it took immediate measures, including notifying the students’ guardians of the case.
The incident will be registered on the Conviva Platform (Placon), which collects information and data related to violence in schools in the state of São Paulo.
