The last time the Cadillac Lyriq, the first all-electric car of this American brand, was mentioned in the media in November 2021, when it was undergoing control tests. Nothing has been heard from him since then until yesterday. On March 7, information appeared on the Web that the full-scale production of the long-awaited model is just around the corner.
According to the Cadillac Society portal, the start of mass production of the Cadillac Lyriq is scheduled for March 21. It will be built at Cadillac’s Spring Hill, Tennessee, US manufacturing facility, which has previously undergone a multi-billion dollar refurbishment.
Journalists turned to a Cadillac official for comment. He confirmed that preparations for the launch are going according to plan and that the electric car will go into mass production by the end of this month, but he, for obvious reasons, refused to name the exact date for the start of production.
The first all-electric car in Cadillac’s lineup is a luxury full-size rear-wheel drive SUV powered by an Ultium electric motor with 254 kW or 340 horsepower and 440 Nm of torque. It is powered by a 100 kWh battery that gives it a range of about 300 miles or 480 km. There is support for fast charging with a power of 190 kW, which allows you to increase the autonomy of the electric car by another 200 miles or 320 km in about half an hour of charging.
If production of the Cadillac Lyriq goes according to plan, it should go on sale this summer. Prices for the base model start at $59,900.
