Caetano Veloso releases re-recording of “La Mer”, a French classic

The Bahian singer Caetano Veloso 81 years old, released this Friday (23) a re-recording of the song “La Mer “, a great French classic.

The song is now available on music streaming platforms and also has a music video published on YouTube (see below).

The music will be part of the soundtrack of the film recently premiered at the Berlin Film Festival “Unite Family “, in Christine Angot .

“Guilherme Araújo was my manager. He spent years asking me to sing 'La Mer'. I liked him immensely (…) When he died, I felt it. At a performance in Paris, I sang 'La Mer' in posthumous tribute to him”, wrote Caetano on X (formerly Twitter).

The singer also added that the tribute to the businessman was watched from the audience by writer Christine Angot, who, years later, asked him to record it alone and with the guitar.

A few days ago, Caetano announced his latest international tour, in the United States, “Meu Coco Tour”. It will start on March 24th.

Recently, he did a series of shows in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the album “Transa”.
