Caixa changes rules and cuts interest rates on “Casa Verde e Amarela”, says bank president

In an interview with CNN This Thursday (24), the president of Caixa Econômica Federal, Pedro Guimarães, said that the interest on housing credit for the Casa Verde e Amarela program will increase from 4.75% to 4.25%, in addition to the increase in the maximum income. to R$ 2,400 per month, against R$ 2,000 currently and the 15% increase in the ceiling of the value of the financed property.

This Thursday, Caixa announced that it will reduce the interest on financing for home ownership, linked to savings. According to the bank, the new rates start at 2.8% per year plus the savings rate (currently at 6% plus the TR, the reference rate, which totals 6.17%). In this condition, the maximum annual rate is 8.97% per year, according to the institution.

Guimarães also commented on the microcredit program that was announced for lower-income Brazilians, including those benefiting from social programs.

According to the president of Caixa, the government is speeding up the microcredit operation and denied that there could be “over-indebtedness with microcredit”.
