The payment of the extraordinary withdrawal of resources from the Severance Indemnity Fund (FGTS), which began in April, with the release of the federal government, comes to an end this Wednesday (15).
This is the date of payment of the last installment, scheduled for 3.6 million workers born in December.
Each worker can withdraw up to BRL 1,000, if this balance is available in the fund, in an active (current employment) or inactive (previous) account. Only one withdrawal can be made, regardless of the number of accounts or the balance of each holder.
The amount referring to the FGTS is deposited by Caixa Econômica Federal in a digital account opened by the white person himself. Through the Caixa Tem application, it is possible to carry out activities such as checking the balance and paying debts.
The extraordinary loot was released by the government as part of a strategy that aims to boost the Brazilian economy. However, for Fabio Bentes, from the National Confederation of Trade in Goods, Services and Tourism (CNC), other tools have been more effective for this purpose.
“The impact that we have noticed now is much more a result of Auxílio Brasil than of the extraordinary FGTS withdrawals, because the fund’s program started in April”, points out the economist.
The president of the Brazilian Retail Association (ABV), Luiz Gustavo Santos e Silva highlights, however, that the economic impact of the measure is relevant.
“As we are living in a post-pandemic reality, in which many people were left without income or had a significant reduction in income, the consequence was a decrease in purchasing power. The release of looting influences precisely this aspect. In other words, it will make the economy turn again, alleviating the negative impact we had in the last two years”, he says.
Regarding the segment, the president of ABV points out that measures like these, at other times, have already presented results similar to those now expected by the sector.
“Historically, there have already been other withdrawals released from the FGTS that positively impacted trade. Therefore, the trend is that this will boost sales again, especially with regard to essential consumer goods”, concludes Santos e Silva.
