Calca is a tool that will help you transfer to paper any image that is on your device or any image taken with a camera, making your device act like a camera lucida or like a projector.
HOW IT WORKS?
- You will need a coaster such as a glass, jar, box or buy a suitable one, there are several I recommend on my website erbolamm.com.
We will choose an image:
- You can do it from your camera
- Web search
- Taking a screenshot
- The one you already have on your device
- It can be a photo, drawing, text, sketch – as long as it is an image file.
Then go to the editing area:
- With the buttons on the top panel, you can rotate left or right 90 degrees.
- By dragging one of the corners, you can select the area you want to draw.
- Note: The crop size is set to vertical because the image is scaled vertically in the next step so as not to create empty areas and thereby confuse the user.
Finally, click on the top save button.
As a result, the selected or final edited image will be 50% transparent.
You can adjust the opacity with the slider at the bottom until you get the most comfortable result for starting a stroke.
By giving permission to your device’s camera, you will be able to see through it and the selected image the area where you are going to draw.
