For a long time, it was impossible to evaluate applications pre-installed on the iPhone and iPad in the App Store, such as Mail, Music, News, Promotions, Calculator and many others. However, it seems that with the release of iOS 15, the company removed this limitation. As you might expect, the feedback was not long in coming – the store was already flooded with negative reviews, and many Apple apps received low ratings.
The company may have allowed pre-installed apps to be rated due to competitive pressure since third-party apps are not allowed to hide their App Store ratings. Everyone now has the opportunity to rate and review any Apple app that can be uninstalled or reinstalled through the App Store. Outside were such system applications as “Phone”, “Messages”, “Camera” and several other programs that are not in the store.
Most of the standard applications have few ratings so far, but all the dissatisfied users have already rushed to leave their “objective” review. Accordingly, the average rating of many Apple applications was extremely low. It should be noted that the rating differs depending on the region. For example, the Calculator application in the American App Store has an average rating of 3.5, and in the Russian one – 4.8.
The “Translation” application has the lowest rating in the Russian App Store – 1.8. Users report poor translation quality compared to Google Translate. The list of the worst, according to users, also includes “Commands” (2.4), “Mail” (2.6), Apple Books (2.6), “Weather” (2.8) and “Reminders” ( 3.1).
