Call by link: WhatsApp makes it easy to join group calls

WhatsApp users will soon be able to invite other people to join a group call using a link. To date, the service is working on a feature called Call Links, which will allow you to generate links for a voice call or video call and send them to your interlocutors. Those, in turn, join the group call by simply clicking on the link.

Such a feature can be seen, for example, in the FaceTime application on Apple devices. Last year, the company added the ability to create links that allow other users to join group calls from Android devices and Windows computers. However, Apple went even further – these links can also be used for scheduling calls. A similar implementation can be seen in the ZOOM program, where video conferences are held. WhatsApp has already noted that they are not going to add the ability to schedule calls using links.

In addition to Call Links, WhatsApp developers have also begun testing encrypted group video calls with up to 32 people. More information about this will be coming soon.
