Calls for a ceasefire will only provoke further Russian attacks, Kiev says

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s adviser, Mykhailo Podoliak, said today that calls for an immediate ceasefire in the 28-month-old Russian invasion would only provoke more attacks by Moscow. “The leaders of Hungary and China have once again called for ‘an immediate cease-fire… And their proposal consists in creating an illusion that the aggressor has the right to kill, because he talks about ‘peace,’ and the victim not to defend himself,” Podoliak said in a post on X. He added that such a proposal “encourages Russia to continue its attacks.” Earlier today President Volodymyr Zelensky vowed retaliation after the latest Russian missile attack in Ukraine, which killed at least 29 people and damaged a Kyiv children’s hospital.
