One aircraft with 11 passengers, which had been chartered by a private hydrocarbon pipeline maintenance company, crashed in a forest in the central Cameroonas announced by the Ministry of Transport of the African country.
The plane disappeared from radar in the afternoon and its wreckage was found a few hours later in a forest near the Nanga-Eboko area, about 150 kilometers northeast of the capital Yaounde.
Rescue crews rushed to the scene of the crash to determine if there were any survivors.told the French News Agency (AFP) an official of the Ministry of Transport of Cameroon, who asked not to be named.
The aircraft was chartered by Cameroon Oil Transportation Company SA (COTCO), the same official said. COTCO is responsible for the maintenance of a pipeline between Cameroon and neighboring Chad.
It had taken off from Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport bound for Bellambo in eastern Cameroon.
