Camila Cabello and Kali Uchis will be honored at Billboard Latin Women in Music

Camila Cabello and Kali Uchis will be the main honorees of this year's edition of Billboard Latin Women in Music, which will be broadcast on June 9th.

The Cuban ex-Fifth Harmony will take home the Global Impact award, which went to Shakira in last year's edition, the first of the award. Kali Uchis, in turn, was chosen as Rising Artist of the Year, a title that was given to Emilia Mernes in 2023.

The event was created as a kind of expansion of Billboard Women in Music and its focus is on rewarding Latin women and what resonates with them in the music industry.

In announcing the 2024 honorees, Billboard highlighted that, in addition to creating global hits like “Havana”, Camila Cabello uses her platform to address important issues such as immigration, diversity, female empowerment and mental health.

In the case of Kali Uchis, the highlight was her rapid rise in the charts and her ability to mix languages, such as Spanish and English, and musical genres.

The two join four other honorees who had already been announced. Are they:

  • Gloria Estefan — Legend;
  • Ana Bárbara — Lifetime Achievement;
  • Ángela Aguilar — Musical Dynasty;
  • Kany García — Spirit of Change.
