Camilla and the emotion for the coronation as queen

The late Queen Elizabeth told her she would never take the throne, but at most would earn the title of princess consort. But no, King Charles wanted his life partner Camilla to be queen to all intents and purposes. And with today’s coronation celebration this title, already effective, is consecrated and therefore blessed by the High and by the British tradition.

In spite, in short, of those who would have liked to see her relegated to a corner.

While throughout the ritual Carlo always appears staid, hieratic and at times catatonic, Camilla is all a riot of joy held back in the text, an almost sense of revenge and victory over those who have hindered their bond right away.

Non-verbal language, on the other hand, speaks much louder than any speech. And she, very radiant, she is over the moon, accompanied by all her grandchildren (the twins Gus and Louis Lopes, Freddy, Arthur), who hold her cloak as she enters and exits Westminster Abbey but also symbolize the past she does not intend to give up.

Mother’s and grandmother’s heart, therefore, which is added to the royal duties that continue to await her.

Some say that she is the longa manu of the current monarchyhowever passing or transitional it may be. And these are not just words from Carlo’s second son, Harry (repeated in the memoir Spare – The minor), but in the opinion of many British royal experts.

Queen Camilla, sly and gloating, has waited a lifetime to experience this moment. “I would suffer every pain for you, this is love and this is the strength of love,” she said during the famous phone calls following the scandal between her and Carlo, but this phrase says a lot about her eternal devotion to her.

With great complicity, when she bowed during the ceremony in front of her consort, she elicited the king’s only smile during the coronation. And it is yet another demonstration of how much his perseverance has paid off.

It is not possible, however, at this moment, to forget Lady Diana, whose ghost hovers over that throne. If the marriage had worked out, today she would be the new queen of England and, for sure, everything would have been different. But even just thinking about it in passing – as it surely happened during the day to both William and Harry – is too painful.

The only thing the subjects can do is give this elderly ruler and his queen a chance to understand if, after seventy years of waiting, he finally earns the chance to be the face of change. Even if many can’t wait for William and Kate to ascend that throne.
