Campaign offers renegotiation of BRL 80 million in debt

Faced with the increase in the number of defaulters in the country, a campaign was launched to renegotiate R$ 80 million in debts. Until the end of August, 27 million Brazilians can pay in installments with 45 companies, in up to 36 interest-free installments.

According to Serasa Experian, in June, Brazil reached 66.8 million people with the ‘dirty name’, the highest number in the historical series started in 2016, an increase of 200 thousand people compared to May. The problem affects 41.4% of the country’s adult population.

The Serasa Limpa Nome campaign emerged after a survey with 2,645 people showed that discounts and installment payments are the biggest motivators for consumers to settle a pending financial issue.

The company’s manager, Thiago Ramos, explained that actions with discounts are carried out periodically by the company, but this is the first and largest with interest-free installments, with the objective of curbing default.

People can make inquiries through the company’s digital channels, such as the website and app, or at the more than 6,000 Post Office units distributed throughout the country.

“The most sensitive layer of the population, which really needs to clear its name, does not have this affinity with digital media. We provide a partnership with the Post Office. All agencies are offering consultation on names as well as debts. The person just needs to have the CPF in their hands. The attendant says the debts, payment terms, discounts and the citizen can leave with the ticket already printed”, explains Ramos.

In digital media, consultation is free, while it costs R$ 3.70 at the Post Office. Ramos points out that after the payment of the first installment of the renegotiation, the person is already off the list of negatives.

According to the manager of Serasa, whoever gets the ‘dirty name’ has difficult access to credit. “When you are in default and need a card for a one-off expense or need a loan to close the month in ‘blue’, it is very difficult to get if you are in default”, he said.

According to data from Serasa, the banking and cards sector leads the ranking of debts in Brazil in June, with 27.8% of the total. In second place appears the basic bills of water, electricity and gas, with 22.6%. In third are financial companies, with 13.2%, and retail, such as department stores and clothing, with 12.5%.
