Campomaggi, on stage the art of throwing the heart over the obstacle

“We have to create opportunities for ourselves to become greater than we are. You have to consciously take the longest step. Throwing the heart over the obstacle ». With these words we can condense the story of Marco Campomaggi, founder of the leather goods brand that bears his surname, an example of Italian know-how and the industrious truthfulness of Romagna.

A story, that of Campomaggi, which was born in 1983 on the Cesenatico seafront, where a young man full of dreams and high hopes began to sell some handmade bags made with pieces of leather and enriched with studs and small metal parts. “My gear was in a shoebox: scissors, a punch pliers, and some awls. I did not know leather, I did not know fashion and no one who did this job, but I wanted to create new solutions and experiment. Winning customers was the hardest test I’ve ever faced. Because I was selling on a sidewalk or on the water’s edge. The fact that someone bought my bags seemed like a half-miracle to me. ”

From that beginning, almost for fun, a company was born with a flourishing and proudly Made in Italy production, whose story is told in a book, The Noise of Necessity, that Marco wrote to tell about that urgent need that over the years has led him to create and pursue beauty, to take risks and to commit to putting his ambitions into practice.

A story in which everyone can recognize themselves and from which everyone can draw positive inspiration, which has also become an unpublished monologue interpreted by the actor-poet Roberto Mercadini. The first of the theatrical transposition took place in Milan in the setting of the Gerolamo Theater, where journalists and friends of the brand were able to witness an exciting and funny story, with anecdotes, reflections, ideas and inevitable laughter, in a spontaneous parallel between the life of Campomaggi and that of Mercadini.

Lives in which errors and imperfections are the ones that shape the personality and make it unique, just like it happens with the handcrafted bags of the brand.
