Campos Neto announces the departure of a director and one less member at the next Copom

The president of the Central Bank, Roberto Campos Neto, announced that the director of Economic Policy, Fabio Kanczuk, will leave the agency on the end of his term, on December 31, although his replacement, Diogo Guillen, has not yet been Saturday.

The director of Financial System Organization and Resolution, João Manoel Pinho de Mello, will stay until the next meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (Copom), on February 1st and 2nd. His term would also end on December 31st.

“Due to the window of time for the hearing, we will have one less member in the next Copom”, said Campos Neto.

As the Broadcast (Grupo Estado’s real-time news system) reported on Wednesday, there were no more sessions scheduled for the Senate Economic Affairs Committee (CAE) this year.

The commission should only meet again after the parliamentary recess, scheduled for February 2, exactly on the Copom date.

The hearing for Guillen and Pinho de Mello’s replacement, Renato Dias Gomes, was scheduled for last Tuesday (14), but was postponed by the committee’s chairman, senator Otto Alencar (PSD-BA), after information from that Guillen was the son-in-law of banker Fabio Colletti Barbosa, an independent member of the board of Itaú Unibanco.

BC’s collegiate board is made up of President Roberto Campos Neto and eight other directors.
