The president of the Central Bank, Roberto Campos Neto, will be the next president of the Advisory Council of the Americas (CCA) of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), the BC informed this Monday (21).
Campos Neto was chosen by the BIS Board of Directors, considered the central bank of central banks.
The mandate, which lasts for two years, will begin on January 9, 2023. Campos Neto will head the BC until the end of 2024.
In the presidency of the CCA, he will replace John Williams, president of the Federal Reserve (Fed, the North American central bank) of New York.
Created in 2008, the Consultative Council of the Americas (CCA) is formed by the presidents of central banks of countries in the Americas that are members of the institution – Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, United States, Mexico and Peru.
The BIS, which is headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, has among its duties to promote discussions and facilitate collaboration between central banks, support dialogue with other authorities responsible for promoting financial stability, conduct research on policies of interest to central banks , as well as being the first counterparty for central banks in their financial transactions.
