Latam reported this Tuesday (4) having transported 2.1 million passengers in Brazil at the end of 2021, referring to domestic and international shipments. The accounting period for flights runs from December 17th to January 7th, 2022. The volume is 64% higher than in the same period of the previous year.
According to the airline, there were 13,509 departures in the period, an increase of 56% over the same period last year. The five airports that handled the most passengers from Latam were Guarulhos, Brasília, Congonhas, Fortaleza and Santos Dumont.
“Thanks to advances in vaccination, demand has become more consistent and stable. In addition, Latam’s restructuring process made the company more efficient and competitive. Together, these factors allowed us to grow strongly again in Brazil”, says Diogo Elias, Sales and Marketing director at Latam Brasil.
Latam has already taken over 95% of its domestic capacity from the pre-pandemic period and expects to start 2022 with 100% of this capacity recovered. There are 49 Brazilian airports served by the company (compared to 44 in the pre-pandemic), with an estimate of reaching the unprecedented number of 56 national destinations by May 2022.
