Canada: At least 4 dead and one missing from floods

Floods in western Canada have killed at least four people and left one missing, local officials say.

The torrential rains that hit the province of British Columbia last Sunday and Monday caused landslides and floods that destroyed roads and infrastructure. The Trans Mountain oil pipeline, vital to Alberta’s oil industry, has been shut down temporarily.

Authorities imposed a 30-liter limit on the supply of fuel to individuals to deal with the disruption in the supply chain caused by the extreme climate event. The restrictions will apply for 10 days and residents are asked to restrict his travels to save fuel.

Heavy rains are expected in the area next week as well.

Within months, coastal areas of Canada in the Pacific have been repeatedly hit by natural disasters: an extreme heat wave in late June as a result of climate change, according to experts, accompanied by severe fires.
