Canada announced today that it has expelled six Indian diplomats, including India’s high representative in Ottawa, prompting New Delhi to recall them, a government source said. The announcement comes as Canadian police say they have “evidence of Indian government involvement in cases of ‘intimidation, harassment, extortion and coercion'” on Canadian soil. At the same time, India announced it would expel six senior Canadian diplomats, soon after recalling its top envoy to Ottawa, accusing Canada of investigating him and other diplomats following the 2023 killing in Canada of a Sikh separatist leader.
