Police in Toronto shot and wounded a man walking down a street holding a gun in a neighborhood of the city, prompting the closure of five nearby schools for precautionary reasons.
According to the city police, there is no danger to public safety. Ambulances have rushed to the spot. The suspect, whose condition has not been made known so far, is a man in his 20s.
The incident took place in Port Union, a neighborhood north of the city center. Three of the schools remain closed while the other two continue their normal school activities but the outside gates are locked and no one can enter or leave, according to the Toronto District School Committee.
