Experts of the analytical company Canalys processed the data for the past quarter related to the smartphone market. According to their calculations, in the first three months of 2021, the shipments of smartphones reached 347 million units. This is 27% more than in the same period last year.
Samsung is the leader among manufacturers with a noticeable gap from competitors. She shipped 76.5 million units for the quarter, which is 22% of all deliveries.
In second place is Apple, which shipped 52.4 million smartphones over the period under review. This figure corresponds to 15% of the market. Analysts clarify that sales of the iPhone 12 mini model were below expectations, but this was offset by interest in other models of the iPhone 12 line and models of the previous iPhone 11 line.
This is followed by Xiaomi, which has demonstrated a quarterly result in its entire history. Having increased shipments by 62%, it has shipped 49.0 million devices. This figure corresponds to 14% of the market.
The top five also include Oppo and Vivo, with 37.6 million and 36.0 million units shipped, respectively. The distribution of the market is clearly shown in the diagram. Note that the Canalys data is close to the data from the IDC report, but still slightly different.
