Looking at the red carpet inaugural we really understand how much the Cannes Film Festival was missing with its 12 day long fashion show where you can admire wow or questionable, extreme or minimalist dresses, bling bling or rigorous, avant-garde or vintage. There where dreams seem to take shape and fashion and cinema meet again and the magic, once again, begins again. It’s Cannes, beauty. Despite the Coronavirus emergency still underway, despite quarantines, tampons and all kinds of security. Edition n.74 the style machine is back in motion and it does so in a magnificent way with many outfits that, we are sure, will make the history of the costume of the event.
Thus, after the arrival of the first ones in the Croisette celeb and the kick-off photocall, dedicated to the jury and the cast of the opening film, Annette by Leos Carax, (ALLERT: in your suitcase for the summer never without a couple of cyclists like those of Marion Cotillard), the red carpet of the opening gala gives phenomenal couture pearls. Navigate actresses, starlets, music stars and the top of yesterday today alternate under the eyes, the (almost) mirror images Carla Bruni, bright in Celine, and above all Bella Hadid, devastatingly chic with her halter-neck dress but absolutely French in terms of charm, from the train to take your breath away. It is a vintage garment by Jean-Paul Gaultier viral in the DNA.
But other looks will go down in history from this evening: from the yellow cheery outfit by Dolce & Gabbana by Helen Mirren to the bold silhouette by Etro presented by Ester Exspositor (how much would Carra have liked it?), the dazzling fuchsia highlighter suit by Louis Vuitton that highlighted the presence of the jury president everywhere Spike Lee (with glasses while hanging).
And then Angel, new promise of French music and muse Chanel, who cleared the mollettone on the important red carpet couture in your hair (we will see him this summer from the beach to the pool party).
We are only at the beginning and the conditions could not have been better. Life resumes, the show continues. And he does it by showing himself in his best suit.
