If the Oscars are the epitome of classic glamor and the Met Gala a showcase for extravagant and experimental beauty looks en pendant with the clothes, the Cannes Film Festival represents an opportunity for the celebs of the planet to channel the chic and casual mood that has always been associated with the South of France. But it is also true that divas have often taken advantage of the red carpet in Croisette to sometimes break out of the box and thus indelibly mark the history of beauty.
Head shots
We think about Helen Mirren in 2019: at the age of 73, the British actress showed off under the flashes of photographers a pink hair of cotton candy really cool, clearing the creative freedom that has nothing to do with age. Pink for the head, in short, isn’t just for Millennials down. And what about the buzzcut most famous of the beauty story, or the one given by Natalie Portman in 2005 to posterity? Even today, that the shaved one returns to be à la page for women, that of the diva represents a great inspo.
Still on the hair front, it is impossible not to mention Tilda Swinton and her daring looks: her punk style cut and vibrantly colored lipsticks inflamed the Cannes red carpet last year and have nothing to envy to the makeup and wig experiments of the youngest colleague Kristen Stewart which at the French Festival has always amazed with out-of-the-ordinary looks. But we could still continue with the sculpture hairstyle of Claudia Cardinale in 1963 and the futuristic one last year di Coco Rocha.
Unforgettable items
Unforgettable then the beauty look with a lot of hipster headband Diane Keaton in 1987, the chaplet of Liz Taylor in 1957, the purple lipstick of Lupita Nyong’o in 2015 and the vitamin orange eyeshadow by Barbara Palvin in 2013: a lot of Instagram in a time when social media was not yet at today’s levels.
