Capitol invaded: Biden shoots red balls at Trump and the police

 

“One of the darkest days in our history”. In a speech Thursday, January 7, President-elect Joe Biden accused Donald Trump of having “unleashed a merciless assault on American democratic institutions” after his supporters invaded the Capitol on Wednesday. “Yesterday was in my eyes one of the darkest days in our history,” he lamented, describing those who participated in these troubles as “terrorists”.

Donald Trump spoke to the crowd on Wednesday, encouraging his supporters to advance towards Congress, before posting a video in which he repeated without proof that the election had been “stolen” from them. The next US president, who will move to the White House in 13 days, also said he was convinced that anti-racist protesters would have been treated “very differently” from supporters of Donald Trump who sowed chaos in Washington the day before. “They would have been treated very, very differently from the surly mob that invaded the Capitol. We all know it’s true, and it’s unacceptable, ”he denounced from his stronghold in Wilmington.

A minister resigns

US Transport Minister Elaine Chao announced her resignation on Thursday, citing her “concern” over the invasion of Capitol Hill. “Our country has experienced a traumatic event, completely avoidable (…) which troubled me so much that I cannot ignore it”, justified in a statement the one who is in the city, the wife of the head of the Republican Senators Mitch McConnell. She is the first member of Donald Trump’s cabinet to announce his resignation since the violence on Capitol Hill.
