THE Mexican baron of drugs Ovid Guzman, son of the imprisoned Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, was arrested by the Mexican authorities. The news of Ovid’s arrest was released after a night of riots in Culiacanin the Sinaloa State of northern Mexico, where the homonymous cartel is based, one of the strongest drug trafficking organizations in the world.
Ovid Guzmán, who assumed a leadership position in Sinaloa Cartel following his father’s arrest, he was briefly detained in October 2019 but quickly released to avoid retaliation from cartel.
This morning, security forces were on their feet trying to contain the reactions of the Guzmán family in the area.
The airport of Culiacan was closed and will remain out of operation until 10 in the evening, as reported by APE-MPE.
The local Authorities they invited residents to stay in their homes. Schools and administrative offices remained closed due to the violence. Unverified videos posted on social media sites show a heavy exchange of fire, including from helicopters, overnight. Roadblocks were also erected.
