The Italian island of Capri, one of the most popular summer destinations in all of Europe, has been “blocked” for tourists due to a lack of water. The measure is due to damage to the water supply system. The mayor banned the arrival of tourists citing an explosive health situation. “The health and hygiene situation is explosive, we have taken our countermeasures and activated the crisis response unit and issued a restrictive order,” the mayor, Paolo Falco, said in a statement. The contractor company states that the water supply restoration projects have been completed, however, several areas of the island still do not have drinking water. In the meantime, huge queues of tourists have formed at the port of Naples, departure point for most ships to Capri, who want to visit the famous Italian island.
