Turkish police today arrested 158 soldiers as suspects for connections with the organization of deceased preacher Fethullah Gulen, who is accused of raising an attempt at Constantinople in 2016, the Constantinople prosecutor said. According to the state -run Anadolu news agency, these arrests, which are added to about 50 others in late May, took place in 43 of the country’s 81 provinces, including those of Constantinople and Smyrna. Another 18 soldiers are still wanted, the prosecutor’s office announced, according to which these arrests mainly concern the army of land. Fethullah Gulen, who died in late October in the US, where he lived for more than 25 years, was a close ally of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, before becoming his sworn enemy.
