Dozens of vehicles were involved in a road accident that occurred earlier today in the northwestern province of Bolu Turkeywhere the snowfall and severe cold turned large sections of the road network into “ice rinks”.
The driver of a lorry lost control of the vehicle, which “folded” and followed a pileup of at least 58 vehicles, including trucks and buses, as reported by the Turkish news agency Anadolu.
More than 10 injured have been taken to hospitals, while traffic was disrupted and hundreds of people were trapped in their vehicles. Teams from the Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD) distributed food and water to the stranded drivers and passengers.
