A car ran over and killed two people in the early hours of Monday (2), in Cidade de Deus, in the west zone of Rio de Janeiro, as reported by the Military Police in a statement. The driver fled without providing assistance to the victims.
According to the PM, agents from the 18th Battalion (Jacarepaguá) were called to an incident on Estrada Marechal Miguel Salazar Mendes de Moraes. Upon arriving at the scene, they were informed by witnesses that it was a hit-and-run.
At the scene, the police found that the vehicle lost its steering and entered the sidewalk, and then an establishment, resulting in the deaths of the two victims.
The case was registered at the 32nd DP (Taquara), which began efforts to find the person responsible.
The street where the accident occurred had to be partially closed in the morning for forensic work.
