A car carrying 24 marijuana tablets overturned on the Presidente Dutra Highway, near Pindamonhangaba, in the interior of São Paulo, during the early hours of this Sunday (19). After being taken to the city hospital, the driver fled and was sought by authorities.
According to the Federal Highway Police in São Paulo, after the accident, agents from the highway concessionaire located a quantity of drugs inside the vehicle.
While cleaning the road and collecting the car, employees identified a black bag inside the car, containing 24 marijuana tablets.
According to CCR, the rollover occurred at around 4:37 am. After the accident, the driver of the vehicle was taken to the Pindamonhangaba Emergency Room. Due to what happened, the operation at Dutra was closed until 5:12 am and was then reopened for traffic.
In a statement, the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat reported that the man fled the hospital after receiving treatment. According to investigations, the vehicle transporting the quantity of drugs was the result of robbery.
The driver is now being investigated by the police. The case was registered by the Taubaté Sectional Police Station, which is carrying out efforts to locate the suspect.
