An icon of rescues amid the floods in Rio Grande do Sul, the horse Caramelo has become a symbol of resistance and mobilization. But what happened to it and what is the future of this symbol? Remember the case.
Heroic rescue
The horse became famous after spending around four days islanded on top of the roof of a house in Canoas, Rio Grande do Sul. He was rescued by rescuers from the fire department, in an action that had repercussions and awakened several influencers and politicians who mobilized to make the rescue possible. The animal was nicknamed Caramelo, and the name became one of the most talked about topics on X, the old Twitter.
The animal was taken to the Veterinary Hospital of the Brazilian Lutheran University (ULBRA), in Canoas. He had injuries to his skin, muscles and hind leg, probably caused by the time he spent on the roof and poor living conditions.
Recovery period
Rescued on May 9, the caramel horse presented an advanced condition of anorexia and dehydration, where he received assistance from the Ulbra Veterinary Hospital in Canoas.
