Cardano will double the reward for “white hat hackers” for finding vulnerabilities in the wallet and network

The Cardano project team announced that they are doubling the reward for “white hat hackers” for finding vulnerabilities in the wallet and network to ensure the maximum security of the Cardano ecosystem.

Due to the increasing cases of hacker attacks in the decentralized finance (DeFi) industry, many projects are trying to close any possible “loopholes” for attackers. An effective way to do this is to offer rewards to hackers for discovering vulnerabilities before someone else exploits them for personal gain.

The Cardano Foundation has announced that the bounty for finding low-risk vulnerabilities in the Cardano wallet will be increased from $300 to $600. There is a $2,000 bounty for reporting medium-severity vulnerabilities in this category, $6,000 for high-severity vulnerabilities, and $7,500 for critical bugs that should be addressed immediately.

Another sub-category – Cardano Node – is considered to be of higher priority, therefore, it provides higher rewards. Low risk bugs are rewarded to $800, medium and high risk vulnerabilities are priced at $4,000 and $10,000, while critical vulnerabilities are offered $20,000.

Over the past 90 days, Cardano has received 12 reports. The project team thanked two “white hat” hackers for their contribution to the development of the network, paying them a reward for a total of $2,300.

Cardano is not the only network launching such initiatives. Last year, the developers of Ethereum 2.0 also introduced a bounty program for finding bugs in the network before the activation of the Altair hard fork.
