Carla Bruni Suspect in Investigation Linked to Her Husband Nicolas Sarkozy – She Testified for Three Hours

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, wife of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, testified today for nearly three hours as a suspect in the investigation into Libyan financing of her husband's 2007 election campaign. The singer and former model, aged 56, was asked to explain her possible role in the dramatic change of attitude of the Franco-Lebanese mediator Ziad Takientin who, at the end of 2020, suddenly and temporarily acquitted Nicolas Sarkozy, although he had been his main accuser in the case of Libyan funds. Justice suspects various persons in the circle of former president Nicolas Sarkozy (2007-2012) of having orchestrated this withdrawal of charges with the aim of influencing the course of the investigations.
