Carnival 2026: Mooca launches first samba-plot of the special group of SP

The United Youth of Mooca was the first samba school of the Special Group of São Paulo to launch its samba-plot for the carnival of 2026. The association released on Wednesday (14) the work chosen to pack its first parade in the elite of the São Paulo revelry.

Lucas Donato, Gui Cruz, Aquiles da Vila, Fabiano Sorriso, Marcos Vinicius, Vitor Gabriel, Biel, Mateus Tema and Willian Tadeu sign the samba, which turned into music the plot “Gèlèdés – Agbara Obinrin”, Carnival Renan Ribeiro and the enredened Thayssa Menezes.

The narrative chosen by the East Zone of São Paulo seeks to reverence the “power of Brazilian black women who move the story with courage, wisdom and resistance”.

“Our plot will be an ode to the invisible force that transforms the world: the power of the black feminine. From African secret societies to terreiros, from classroom resistance and power spaces: these women are everywhere – creating, nourishing, teaching and opening ways. They are everyday revolution,” says the text released on the social networks of the association.

Founded in 1988, the Geledés Institute is inspired by African female secret societies to establish a struggle for eradicating discrimination against women and blacks. Over the years, the institution founded by – among other people – Sueli Carneiro, was notable as one of the main voices of black feminism in Brazil.

At the 2025 Carnival, Mum paid tribute to Aílton Krenak and won the runner-up of the access group 1, with 269.8 points, losing the title to Tom Maior in the tiebreaker. With the result, the association founded in 1987 won the right to parade in the special group for the first time.
