Carnival 2026: See the order of the parades of the samba schools of Rio

The samba schools of the Special Group of Rio de Janeiro defined on Friday (11) the order of the carnival parades 2026. The event took place in the city of samba and featured shows by Jorge Aragão, Cacá Nascimento, Arruda Group and the current Beija-Flor champion of Nilópolis.

This will be the second year in which the processions will be divided into three days. According to the official regulation, three associations already had their positions guaranteed. They are:

  • Niterói Academics : Champion of the Gold series, which will open the performances on Sunday (February 15);
  • Padre Miguel’s Independent Youth : 11th place in the special group, which will be the first to enter the avenue on Monday (16);
  • Paradise of Tuiuti (10th place, which will start the parades on Tuesday (17).

The draw was divided into two parts. First, the other nine associations, which had already been divided into three groups (Hummingbird, Mangueira and Salgueiro; Vila Isabel, Tijuca and Portela; Grande Rio, Viradouro and Empress), decided in luck who had the right to choose their parade day first. Then, within each day, the parade positions were drawn.

The carnival of 2026 will mark the first time the willow will end the parades. The school in the north of Rio de Janeiro has owned nine titles, parades in the special group since its foundation and had never been the last school to parade on the last night of court.

Tuesday (February 17)

  1. Paradise of Tuiuti
  2. United from Vila Isabel
  3. Academics of the Grande Rio
  4. Salgueiro Academics
