After canceling the street blocks, the city of São Paulo still does not have a definition for the Carnival parade at the Sambódromo.
According to the coordinator of the Health Surveillance in the capital, Luiz Arthur Caldeira, authorities are developing a specific protocol for this event.
In an interview with CNN Radio, he explained that, even so, the parades will only take place if “at the end of the conversations, we reach the conclusion that the health risk is under control, if there are conditions to guarantee the safety of those who will attend and participate.”
This is because, according to Caldeira, the epidemiological scenario has changed. “The picture is critical and the number of infected people has increased a lot. For Carnival, the protocols should be stricter than those we have been adopting.”
São Paulo decided to require a vaccine passport for all events from the 10th onwards. Since September, the capital has required proof only for events with more than 500 people.
Luiz Caldeira reinforced that the measure serves as a precaution: “We are in contact with the niches of interest, so that in these other events they identify the orientation of mask use, availability of alcohol gel, mask hygiene, and that they do not use the maximum capacity .”
