The singer and songwriter Carol Biazin 28, publicize your fourth studio album, “In the dark who are you?” On the night of Thursday (22). The project is the second part of the album “In the dark,” launched in August 2024, and marks a deeper and bold sound of the artist. In a new conversation with CNN she detailed the vibe of the 12 tracks included in the work, which reflect insecurities, affections and dilemmas of the modern life of a generation in search of identity and emotional balance.
Divided into two parts, the album, according to Carol Biazin, was born of a long and intense process of composition and self -analysis addressing anxiety about the future to reflections on love, vulnerability and purpose. The first part goes beyond 40 million streams on Spotify.
The artist says she has built the project thinking about launching two parts. In the second assembly process, she realized she was more “loose” and ready to dare in rhythms and invest in vulnerability for the letters. “Who are you when no one is seeing? What is left when there is no performance, no social network, no audience? This is the idea,” explains Biazin.
“The first part is darker, it brings this feeling of sinking, not knowing what to do with what you feel. The second part has more light, more acceptance. It talks about continuing, even without knowing exactly the way,” he explains. “This album was born of this concern: What are we doing here? What is the meaning of all this? I don’t bring answers, but I accepted that perhaps living is just that: to follow even without understanding everything.”
The artist emphasizes that she allowed herself to write on topics that she was not so used to – even if she has always been confessional in her musical projects.
“This album is almost a mirror of my contradictions, my feelings, the things I am still trying to understand myself. There is a lot about insecurity, about giving what we feel, and at the same time has this desire to break free, to dance, to move on.”
The new album also features appearances that came from the personal admiration of Carol, which are Ebony in “What a sin” ” and Vitor Kley with whom she shares vocals in one of the most different tracks of the album, “Nobody’s Land” . “With Vitor, there was a real connection. We started talking about life, about the chaos of the world, and music was born of it.”
Ebony’s name came from a place of admiration for the woman who “slapped” to be in a song about self -esteem with Biazin.
Track “Dilemmas of modern life” Still arrives accompanied by a music video released along with the album. Directed by GABE LIMA known for works with Marina Sena and Liniker, It explores the paradox between living and only exists in the midst of the routine of adulthood, bringing a “dummy” as a symbol of absence and everyday alienation. Combining set scenes with images recorded by mobile phones, webcams and even analogously processed artificial intelligence, the clip plunges into the aesthetics of hyperconnectivity and the noise of the present.
Against the logic of the algorithm
Contrary to the logic of instant and viral hits, sometimes produced thinking of excerpts that stand out on social networks such as Tiktok, Carol remains true to his artistic truth. “It’s a constant struggle. The industry requires numbers, viralizations, trends… But I believe that when you do music with depth, you build something lasting. I don’t want peaks of fame and then forget. I want solidity.”
She recognizes that this choice has a price, but also brings health. “I prefer to grow slowly, consistently. Today I have a solid foundation of fans that support me. That’s what matters in the end.”
“I think when you keep thinking a lot about how to please the industry and how to get numbers and engage on social networks with that with that song, you lose a deep connection with people, you lose audiences to your show, you lose people who will look at you with a long term admiration. No one deserves to live on ups and downs . I think the viral is a consequence of the construction, but it cannot be the purpose of this construction ”, reflects the star.
Purpose and impact
Carol expects the songs to play who listen to them-just as the process of writing them played it. “No feeling is just mine. I know that what I’m singing also happens to other people. I want when someone is lost in the dark, he can hear one of these songs and feel only less. That is my purpose.”
