Carrie Bradshaw, the evolution of the style of a TV icon

More than 20 years have passed, and yet the style of Carrie Bradshaw hasn’t bored us yet. The sex expert more eclectic than New York, it has a quality that distinguishes it, namely that of knowing how to mix a T-shirt with a skirt, or a dress with a pair of shoes that, apparently, would seem to have nothing to do with each other. Yet his like – combined with the talent of the stylist behind her character, Patricia Field – has always won any fashion and any era. But from 1998 to 2021, from the debut of Carrie in the theme song of the tv series Sex and the city until the first images of the reboot And just like that…, Bradshaw’s fashion evolution is visible.

Or, rather, definitely visible. You can see it by observing her 25 iconic looks that we have meticulously selected below, scanning season after season of the cult series, film after film.

It starts with one Sexy and confident Carrie, in the first episode of the show, with brown hair, swaddled in a little black dress with square-toed shoes stumbling, literally, into Mr. Big for the first time.

Pair furs with sandals and mini dresses before going out with Mr. Big, and then sport elegant suits, to put yourself in the role of Mrs. Big. From the second to the third season, for Carrie, they are the details to make a difference. Here the first shoes signed Manolo Blahnik emerge, the brooches with maxi flower in fabric, the bags vintage by Gucci and Dior. It is the period in which the New York journalist is single and loves to have fun, not only with men but also with outfits.

Carrie returns, in the fourth and fifth seasons, yet chaotic mix – always successful – that seems tailored to his moods and complex relationships: will he choose the boy next door, Aiden, or the man of dreams who doesn’t like to commit himself, Mr. Big?

From the sixth season, then, Carrie becomes an acclaimed writer and chooses more refined looks, suitable for his nearly 40 years. She wears full skirt dresses and loves pairing the blazer with anything, including the tulle skirt from the scene where she’ll get back with Mr. Big.

In second filminstead, Carrie returns to express her sentimental confusion through the clothes, colorful and eclectic, like the two-tone maxi skirt, worn with a Dior T-shirt, with which she will meet – coincidentally – in Abu Dhabi, her old love, Aiden.

In 2021, more than 20 years after the myth of Sex and the city, Carrie Bradshaw over 50 dust off the classics, adapting them to a mature woman’s wardrobe. There are the cobalt blue Manolo Blahniks and a bit of tulle in the reboot And just like that…, which will arrive on the screens of Sky and NOW on December 9 at the same time as the States. But the skirts get longer and the sweaters become less tight.
