New cars in Russia are becoming more and more expensive for buyers. As the analytical agency Avtostat writes, according to the results of August, the weighted average cost of a new car once again increased and amounted to 2.14 million rubles. The weighted average cost is calculated based on the average values of the distributor’s recommended prices and sales volumes for each model, taking into account modifications.

It should be noted that the rise in the cost of vehicles is a global trend, caused, on the one hand, by a shortage of components (because of it, this year, many factories simply stopped the conveyor), and on the other, by high consumer demand. However, the dynamics of growth of the weighted average cost is unpleasantly striking: if in June it was about 1.8 million rubles, then in July it exceeded 1.9 million, and in August it increased by another 200 thousand rubles. But this is not the limit. Avtostat notes that from January to August, the weighted average cost of a new car increased by 21%, but in general over the year it can grow up to 25%. In a word, there is still room to grow.
