Travel to the heart of the Salento more authentic, the one in which time is marked by very slow rhythms, is an experience that every traveler should have. Because if it is true that last year, thanks to Dior fashion show, the lowest point of the heel in Italy, has lived his own most glamorous moment, turned off the spotlight and returned to normal. Made of a more intimate welcome but always open to accommodate anyone who wants to get to know these lands.
And it is precisely a Nardò, a small town in the hinterland south of Lecce, a triumph of Baroque art on which the eighteenth-century spire of the Immaculate Conception and the Aragonese castle, which a couple of Parisian professionals from the world of fashion, one and the other from high hospitality, have decided to transform an old residence from the 1700s in a luxury hotel. The project, House in Corte, evocative, extraordinary but not opulent, it is the artistic expression of Anne Benichou e Sylvain Greiner that in Puglia have decided to invest by creating a small jewel.
About two years ago, after a visit to Salento, they thought of breathe new life into a collection of homes, residences, studios, scattered throughout Italy, renovate them and bring them back to their original beauty. Just as happened to the building in Via Tufarelle, in the historic center of Nardò. A meticulous and detailed restyling, which lasted exactly two years and which saw Casa à Corte transform itself into a magical place. The materials used, the fabrics, the fabrics, the objects are all strictly handcrafted and above all local: “Because welcoming a guest also means accompanying him on a mental journey, in the heart of this land so loved by foreigners”, says Benichou who when she was in Paris collaborated with Anna Wintour, one of the most influential fashion journalists in the world.
A casket in which the jewels are the five rooms which makes up the guesthouse of Anne and Sylvain, whose doors will open to their guests starting from June 2021, which pay homage to art, the places of Salento and some of the characters who have made history with a typical French vision and foresight. And so we have the “Cappella Grand Room”, “Aranceto”, “Gallipoli”, “Acquaviva” and “Colonna Grand Room”.
The experiences, however, those that a guest can live, are really Apulian: the local cook, from the hole, la cooking class dedicated to the legendary pasticciotti e oil soaps of olives “contaminated” by local flowers.
