Two municipal guards of Cajamar who participated in the search for the Vitória Regina case found two tools hidden in the woods, near the place where the young woman’s body was discovered lifeless. The objects – a hoe and a shovel – were about 20 meters from the exact point where the victim was found.
Immediately, the guards called the authorities and remained at the scene until the arrival of the technical expertise. The tools were analyzed and sent to the Institute of Criminalistics for more detailed exams. The expertise report of objects will be very important for the progress of the investigation.

The discovery led the police to interrogate Maicol’s stepfather Antonio Sales dos Santos, the only suspect who is arrested so far. The investigators went to the stepfather’s house and then led him to the police station to give testimony.
At the police station, the stepfather stated that he noticed the disappearance of some of his tools, which he used to use for fancy cleaning. According to him, the objects were stored in a shed next to his residence without any “lock”.
Seeing the tools found, both stepfather and a friend who also used the equipment, without any doubt, that it was the hoe and shovel that had disappeared from the shed.

Still in his statement, the stepfather revealed that Maicol used to remove tools from the place without warning it, but usually returned them later. However, this time, the objects disappeared for about 15 days.
He concluded by saying that despite living nine years with Maicol’s mother and having a stable relationship with her, her contact with her stepson was limited, as Maicol lived in another house.
Police are still investigating whether the tools were used in the crime and can help clarify the involvement of the only suspect arrested in the case.
