To die for a scolding. Thus, after eight days of fighting between life and death in the hospital, Giovanni Sasso died, 48 years old, father of two children and entrepreneur who, in Cellole, in the province of Caserta, ran a car showroom.
The man had been hospitalized at the Pineta Grande Hospital in Castel Volturno since 9 June. That day, around the closing time of the showroom, Sasso saw two little boys eat peanuts and throw the shells right in front of one of the shop windows of his shop. According to the reconstructions, he went out and asked them to stop littering the sidewalk. The kids, however, didn’t heed the reproach, and even sent the entrepreneur to hell. When Giovanni Sasso replied piqued, one of them, 17 years old, moved on to physical confrontation, e he pushed the entrepreneur, who fell to the ground hitting his head and passed out.
The man’s partner immediately left the showroom and called for help, but when Sasso arrived at the hospital, he was already in a coma: the push and the fall had caused him a large and severe fracture at the base of the skull, which never allowed him to regain consciousness. Yesterday, after many desperate attempts by doctors to ensure that the man could recover, Sasso died.
In the meantime, the carabinieri have identified and traced the two boys involved in the dispute: since the person responsible for the attack is not yet 18 years old, the Prosecutor of the Juvenile Court of Naples will establish the charge (probably manslaughter, but manslaughter is not yet excluded). Just over a month ago, in Luino, a man was attacked for scolding a group of rowdy youngsters at a restaurant, but the fight didn’t end in such a tragic way.
«It is a sad day for Cellole, it wasn’t supposed to be like this», wrote the mayor, Guido Di Leone, on Facebook. «Giovanni was a boy full of life, with a great desire to live and achieve. The whole community prayed for him. Every word is superfluous in the face of such a tragedy. Better to meditate in silence, in pain and in respect. I cling to the pain of families, it is difficult to understand, it is impossible to accept. Have a good trip, Giovà , you will be missed.”
