Cast of “Beetlejuice” arrives in Venice; see photos

The cast of “The Ghosts Still Have Fun” is already on Italian soil. The film is the opening title of the 81st edition of the Venice Film Festival, which begins this Wednesday (28) and runs until September 7. The sequel to the 1988 classic will be shown for the first time at 2 pm (Brasília time) in two simultaneous sessions.

Names like Jenna Ortega , Michael Keaton , Winona Ryder , Willem Dafoe , Monica Bellucci , Justin Theroux , Catherine O’Hara are present at the event and posed for photos. See above.

In “The Ghosts Still Have Fun” three generations return to the iconic house, which continues to be haunted by Beetlejuice, after a huge and unexpected tragedy.

The Venice Film Festival kicks off the awards season. Films that premiered in Venice over the past three years have received 77 Oscar nominations and won 14, making the city a prime location for actors, producers and directors to be seen.

Names like Lady Gaga , Joaquin Phoenix , Julianne Moore , Tilda Swinton , Angelina Jolie , Daniel Craig , Adrien Brody , Felicity Jones , Cate Blanchett , George Clooney , Brad Pitt , Fernanda Montenegro , Fernanda Torres and Selton Mello are confirmed on the screens of the Palazzo del Cinema.

Among the highlights selected for the competition are: “Joker: Delirium for Two” by Todd Phillips; “Queer” by Luca Guadagnino; “I’m Still Here“, by Walter Salles; “The Room Next Door”, by Pedro Almodóvar; “Babygirl” with Nicole Kidman and Antonio Banderas; and “Maria” by Pablo Larraín with Angelina Jolie. This year’s jury is chaired by the French actress Isabelle Huppert and formed by filmmakers and artists of different nationalities: Kleber Mendonca Son (Brazil), James Gray (United States), Andrew Haigh (United Kingdom), Agnieszka Holland (Poland), Abderrahmane Sissako (Mauritania), Giuseppe Tornator (Italy), Julia von Heinz (Germany) and Zhang Ziyi (China).
