The cast of “Modern Family” gathered during the 2024 SAG Awards ceremony, which took place on Saturday night (24), to present the award for “Best Cast in a Comedy Series”. The series, which aired between 2009 and 2020, won the same category four times in previous editions.
On stage, the actors recalled the moments they lived together as the cast of “Modern Family”. “Wow, this really brings back memories. Did you miss me?” Ty Burrell asked his colleagues. “Absolutely yes, but, of course, we had a great time together. 11 seasons, 250 episodes, come on… This has never happened before”, replied Julie Bowen.
Then, Sofia Vergara, who also played Griselda Blanco in the series “Griselda” – which premiered in January this year – responded: “Yes, my new series 'Griselda' also went through this. It’s only been a month and it’s already number 1 in 90 countries.”
Then, jokingly, Eric Stonestreet says to Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who was his love interest on “Modern Family”: “Hey, Jesse, pay me. I said she would mention it in the first 10 seconds,” referring to Vergara’s line about “Griselda.”
Mitchell Pritchett's interpreter then spoke about his memories of the series: “Sometimes, I feel a little nostalgic for the golden days, you know? It's been a life after a big hit show. That could be cool too, right?”, questioning his co-stars, who, at first, agree.
“Ah, Jesus… Who do we want to fool? I didn't want to get emotional here, but do you know what I miss most about all this?” asks Ed O'Neill. “The money”, he then responds, making the audience laugh. “Is it too early to talk about a reboot?” asked Jesse.
After continuing to joke about each other's reality after the end of “Modern Family”, O'Neill announced the cast of “The Bear” as the winner of the “Best Cast in a Comedy Series” category.
This wasn't the only cast that reunited during the 2024 SAG Awards. The awards show was also the stage for reunions of the actors from “The Devil Wears Prada“, “The Lord of the Rings” and “Breaking Bad“.
