The rapper Project released his new album, “Someone Had to Talk About Love “, in 2024. The project seems to mark a more romantic phase for the singer, but brings together tracks that had already been written by him about love in its different phases.
“I was cataloging the songs I have, then I realized that I had some love tracks that were very good and that each one spoke of a period in the relationship,” Projota explained to CNN . “One talked about the breakup; another spoke of an eternal, passionate love; another talked about remember, so I said: ‘I’m going to fill in those gaps’.”
“Then I filled in the gaps, which formed eight tracks, which tell this story”, he continues. The songs have names such as “Fico Bem”, “Coisas da Vida”, “Coração”, “Acabou 2” and “Recomeço” – phases that anyone who listens to the album can identify with when looking at their love life.
The project, however, goes beyond an album. “Someone Had to Talk About Love” also became a film which, in turn, became a series. Episodes were released weekly so that fans could follow the creation.
After the last episode aired on June 4, the full film was made available.
With the album in hand, I thought: now we have to produce a film that tells the story from another point of view”, he said.
The album has partnerships such as Mumuzinho and Priscilla. The choice, according to Projota, is designed “according to what each song requires”. “In terms of timbre, power, style, and that’s how the ideas for partnerships emerged,” he said. “I made a point of inviting artists that I really admire, I’m a fan of their work, and that made all the difference in the project.”
